Ford 841 Power Steering Cylinder

My right power steering cylinder is leaking because shaft is bent. Do these aftermarket cylinders made for left or right work all right? I've got to see if my shaft size is a 1/2" or 5/8". Do you have to have the same shaft size to make it work?

I've had a set of the aftermarket ones on my 3000 for 10 or 12 years. The same cylinders were used from 1955-1983 and maybe beyond. The only problem I've ever had with them was getting the lines to seal at the fittings without leaking.
I ended up using a Locktite product that's made for sealing hydraulic lines. Cleaned the fittings real well with lacquer thinner then applied a couple of drops of the stuff and assembled. I let them sit for a day to dry/cure before starting the tractor.
All the ag models use the cylinder with the 1/2" rod. Only the 62-64 light industrials and some of the 3 cylinder tractors like 3400 use the 5/8" rod.

I've never bought an aftermarket cylinder but have looked into them fairly extensively. All I can say from my searching is that not all aftermarket cylinders are equal. Some work fine and some get horrible reviews.
