Hello all, new to the group and looking for help. I am sure this has been asked and answered a hundred times. But, got an 800 series and it runs like a dream. Smooth idle, hums along while in use. The problem which might not be a problem at all is. I hear people talk about how their unit fires before it make a rotation or two. Mine does take a bit of cranking. 20-30 sec. maybe. This a problem first off or am I just looking to much into it. 12v all new from plugs back. Thanks in advance for any info

Be sure the choke butterfly is closing completely.

If there's a hole in the choke plate with a spring-loaded flap over it, be sure the flap and spring are in place, and closing snugly against the choke plate.

Have a 2000 had the same problem. Problem was the carb was flooded. Started turning the gas flow cutoff under the tank off when I finished for the day. Next morning or days later it fires right up.

If your new to the tractor it could be a learning curve to get the right sequence, one of my tractors won't start without choking it,the other won't start if I choke it.Sometimes you have to find out what works best, check to be sure the choke cable is operating like it should and try different methods to start it you may be surprised to find out what it likes,as someone else said, check to make sure it isn't already flooded before you start.I also have 50's and 60's cars and trucks that are all different in what they like to fire right up.Just a thought.

I will keep working on it. I do turn the gas off when done and today it did fill the carb but not flood the plugs. I pulled them and they were dry. Got it to fire used as I needed shut off and tried again. Didn?t pop right off but did start. Seems to be a fuel to the cylinder delay.

Yes I am and I agree. It?s luck of the draw at this point getting the combo correct. Think I?m getting closer to finding it. Had the tractor less than a month and it?s my first old school unit.

The 541 offsets used to be a high priority item. I see Tractor House has 5 of them listed. I'm "eating" one, a "bitefull" every day

Since you found your plugs to be dry, it sounds like you are making the very common mistake of not choking it enough. If you remove the air intake tube you can get a better idea of what is going on. If it doesn't fire up in two revolutions with the choke closed, and you release the start button, gasoline should run out of the carburetor.

As you stated. I pulled the air intake hose off and gas came out.
Plugs were dry. So if I read the post correctly I am not using the Chile
long enough. Correct?

That is a strong possibility since you plugs are dry.

Ok great I will try it longer. I only use it for a couple seconds due to
fear of flooding. Soooo many different what?s right what?s wrong and
the two seconds is what I started with. Thank you
