What's the difference? Tin work Jubilie vs 861

Found an 861 with Jubilie nose on it... yup a Jubilie nose.

Can anyone tell me what I need to replace in order to put the correct nose back on the 861?

How much of the tin work needs to be replaced and fuel tank maybe?
Whole nose? plus fuel tank? I know the 861 has a 17 gal tank vs 11 on the Jube.

I know the 861 grille is definetly different with the lower portion.

Sorry but no picture makes it tough. Are you certain it's not an 860 since they resemble the Jube with the vertical bars. A photo would clear things up.

I think Tom is correct, we need more information.
From the parts I have exchanged, I remember that the doglegs
have the grill mounting risers in different locations and lengths.
The hood latches and hinges are in different locations.
The cowl around the steering wheel is way different.
Obviously the nose badge is different and the part that holds it.

Unless I was building a show tractor, I wouldn't lose sleep over
the sheetmetal. It is expensive to replace for little return.

Here's a picture of my 851 with a Jubilee engine and gas tank.
Note that the sediment bowl is mounted to the gas tank instead
of to the carb. Fuel line routing is different. It works fine though.

Here's a picture of it when I got it. It had the Jubilee engine/gas
tank but 4000 SOS sheetmetal. Someone else wanted that tin.

What does "nose" mean to you? I know what my nose is but none of my tractors have on. The old 4 cyl. Fords have on the front what is called an "emblem" and they get swapped around all the time. This is the disc above the grill in the center.

Sorry no picture of it for ya..

By nose I meant the entire tin work from the instrument panel forward.
The hood, side tin going down to the chassis/frame (dog legs?)
I know the grille is different but didn't know if the grille would mount to the existing tin work.

I read somewhere that the nose is higher because of the larger fuel tank on the 861 and yes it is an 861 for sure.
Model number is stamped as an 861.

Why do I care?
I don't want an 861 that looks like a Jubilie.
I really like the look of the horizontal bars on the grille of an 861

I didn't know that the instrument panel piece was different, thanks for the scoop on that.

My thoughts were that if someone here knew for sure what's different I'd calculate my costs to get her back to an 861 then make my offer on the tractor accordingly.

If it works out fine.. if not I'll just keep searching.

Thanks for responding, appreciate it.

It is very possible that it has the 861 instrument panel and NAA
hood/dog legs. Yes, the parts from the hood down to the frame.
For one thing, I don't believe the instrument panel from a NAA
would fit around the 861 steering column correctly. The holes are
in different places. Secondly, the 861 instrument panel would have
more holes in it for the indicator (idiot) lights. The NAA didn't have
them. To the best of my knowledge, neither did the 800 series.
Though the 800 instrument panel may fit. I haven't tried that one.
The 800 grill looked a lot like the Jubilee, but they're not the same.
So you'd really need to know what's actually on it.

If you're looking for new sheetmetal, it is available.
Hood kit is about $1200, inner grill about $100, upper grill $175,
the chin (lower portion) $180, front emblem about $65.
Their are a few rubber bumpers, grommets, the bolts etc. too.
I grabbed the whole assembly out of a junkyard for mine.

Basically replace all tin/grill except maybe lower dash piece and possible replace the gas tank because hood hinge in wrong spot. Another cheaper option if you can live with the ford script on the hood. Keep the hood replace the doglegs/grill or keep the hood and the doglegs and drill two holes in the bottom section of the doglegs for the lower section of the grill and weld a couple of tabs to carry the lower section of the upper grill. Top holes should be used on the axle carrier and steering column to raise tin if you want the bigger tank.

Model number is stamped as an 861.

That just says what tractor that transmission was in when it left the factory. It could have had things swapped around multiple times over the years. If the sheet metal is complete and it's Jubilee sheet metal, I would think that at least the rest of the front of the tractor is probably from a Jubilee, like the engine, front axle and bolster. What is the raised casting number on the right side of the engine block? Are the ears for the top link rocker welded right to the outside curve of the differential housing or is there a recess there in the diffy housing?

I do appreciate all the responses.. all great information for sure.
I'll look into this tractor a little more before I make the plunge.

Don't want to be into the thing for 3k after buying parts.

Thanks to all.
Happy Holiday

Agreed. The last 861 I bought had new tires, and new rebuilt engine, new tach, pretty paint etc. in good running condition for $2700.
For the price of new tin just buy a good tractor already togo.
