Hydraulics chatter when raising

I have a NAA I just obtained. Fluids appear not to have been changed in a while.

I just changed the hydraulic fluid now my 3 point chatters when raising, with out a load. I haven't tried attaching a implement.

Do I need to purge or bleed the hydraulic system?

Worked fine before changing the fluid but was slow to raise.

Thanks

Usually it won't lift at all if it needs to be primed. What type of fluid did you put in? Also I would recommend that you order a copy of the I&T FO-19 shop manual. This site has them as do others.

Hello Jim,

I used "Mystik JT-5 Tractor Transmission hydraulic Fluid".
I figured the pump was primed because the lift does work.

So far I attached a brass fitting with barbed end, attached hose ran hose to reservoir. Start engine pump worked fine fluid flowed steady and strong. Let it run for about 10 min until most the bubbles were gone. disconnected and returned plug in pump.
The lift still chattered when raising.

Next I removed plug and coil wire. turned engine until hydraulic fluid started coming out bleeder hole.
Replace plug while fluid was still coming out.
This didn't help. still chattering.

Not sure what to do next.

Thanks,
Curtis

The next step would be to remove the inspection plate, on the right side, the one with the dip stick and look for leaks around the cylinder and relief and safety valves. The manual gets very wordy on the hydraulic section. But that's sort of the bottom line. It also says to hook up an implement like a plow to it to see how it lifts and holds.
