How do you replace starter switch on 8n. Does it just screw out.

No, you have to remove the transmission top cover.
There is a nut on the bottom of the switch, held on by a bent
washer to keep the nut from falling off into the gears.
It is not a bad job at all, but you will need a new cover gasket and
you will want to make sure the detent spring does not fly out.
The spring is under the tab at the back of the cover.
