2610 - CAV Pump Leaking Fuel

The pump on my newly acquired 2610 has started leaking fuel fairly significantly. It is bad enough I have to shut the fuel off at the tank when not using the tractor or it will just keep dripping and dripping. It appears to be coming from either around the throttle shaft or the top itself. Everything was fine until I cleaned the tractor up real good and I guess I knocked all the crud off holding the leak back. The tractor starts easy and runs great even though the tach was broke when I got it and it shows 38xx hours. I figure it is a o-ring or seal, but I'm not for certain. After the tractor warms up it slows down to next to nothing and sometimes even stops. However with Winter coming on the leak is going to get worse with the temps. I live in Southern Indiana, does anyone within a couple hundred miles or so of me work on these pumps? I would be more than willing to haul the tractor to you and pay you to reseal the pump, even help out where I can if you would like. My health just does not allow for me to be able to do mechanical work like I used to and that is why I am selling off a lot of my antique tractor collection and getting a little more modern tractor to actually work with. I fat fingered the model number, it should say 2910 instead of 2610.

I believe there are a pair of O-rings on that throttle shaft. Replace both of them. If the pump has a shut off shaft, do the same for it at the same time.

I used to do top cover leak repairs, but no more. Too many times other leaks show up soon after, and the owner says, "but you just worked on it and it's leaking again". Best repair the complete pump and be done with it. Just my two cents, having been repairing pumps over forty years..

Yea I'm west of Brandenburg and about 30 miles from Corydon.
Do you have a shop or shed to put the tractor in, my shop is small and full, I have a 3930 engine I'm preping to go on a 555 Farmtrac tractor and have a F-800 waiting to have the frame stretched for a dump bed install, the list goes on.
I could come up and remove the pump so you can box it up and send to Dieseltech, when you get it back I'd come up and reinstall it.
