Front cover has a crack. It appears to be cast, but is that iron
or aluminum? I don?t think cast aluminum was common in
50?s but any suggestion on fix? Probably braze it but what
rod?

Sorry I posted twice....used my phone, Oops.

One can be removed if the moderator can do that. thank you!

try the magnet test??

usually a cheap pot metal. pending on where, you could sand it, clean it, clean it, clean it and then jb weld it. I have had very good success doing that in most cases only where I could sand it and clean it. Otherwise it wont work well at all if oily or dirty.

Looks like J.B. weld was on it but came off when I cleaned the cover. Any brazing options?

I have a front cover from one with a windowed block that I parted out. $15 + shipping, if you're interested.

Ford Farmer, I left you a message or tell me a better way to contact you. I want to make sure that the f/c will work on my tractor. maybe only one out there for a 132 CI engine? thanks, MO

A 600 has a 134 ci engine. I'm guessing 132 was a typo? The front cover from any 134, 144 or 172 engine from any 1955-1964 tractor will fit. The part number is the same across all gasoline and diesel engines from that time frame.
