New 7600 power steering gear seeping when hot.

Just installed a new after market power steering gear on a ford 7600, the steering gear looked to be for a different version then mine due to the power steering line sizes but it came with adapters that made it work. When I first installed it I tested it by letting run for a good 1/2 or more running it first with out then with the pitman arm attached and ran it back and forth dozens of times and saw no leaks.

Well after I got everything done and the cab set back down I ran it longer and a little harder and it started to seep just a little a the first connection going up in the column, you would wipe it away and then 5 minutes later you would see it again. I came back to it the next day and for the 1st .5 hour or so no leaks but then sure enough after running long enough it was seeping again. I used power steering fluid as that is what the owner had been using but was thinking of putting in hydraulic fluid that matched the 134 specs thinking maybe it will be thicker and possibly not leak.

This part is under warranty but would take me another day or 2 to change and would be no fun sending back. Does anyone think it could be the power steering fluid or maybe the pump is building to much pressure? The lines do get pretty hot after a while. Thanks.

In case you can't tell for some reason my pic ended up upside down.

You could maybe try replacing the PS filter inside the pump in case there is too much back pressure that is
causing the leak. If that doesn't fix it, looks like you'll be pulling it back out.

those bolts look loose

Just picked up filter and changing it today. As far as the bolts I rechecked them when I was out there, I think it's just how the pic looks.

Changed the filter today and flushed out ps fluid and replaced with hyd fluid that is supposed to be compatible with 134. Tried tightening the bolts down a little more again and was able to snug them. I left tractor running for an hour after wiping it completely dry and only found 1 spot out of past 3 seeping and it hadn't even accumulated to a drop in that time yet so long as it doesn't get worse anytime soon I think it should be good.

Glad to hear it's better. That said, I wouldn't tolerate any leaks at all, because it'll make a mess once
the dust starts to fly. I realize that you have to balance that with the amount of work it will take to
remove it again.

I would not tolerate a new part leaking, change now.
