7600 hydraulic fluid type and capacity.

Getting ready to changed hydraulic fluid and filter on a 76 ford 7600. Anyone know what type and how much? Transmission number is 5L21B and HYD PUMP is 5M22B if that helps any.
Thanks.

Those numbers are just date codes for wen they were assembled. The transmission was assembled on November 21 1975 and the Hydraulic Pump on December 22 1975, both during the day shift.

I believe that the transmission and rear axle/hydraulic sump is one big common sump, even though there may be two or even 3 drain plugs underneath. I don't have a reference for that model's capacities, but exact capacities might depend on whether it has dual power and/or load monitor.

Sean is right - multiple drain plugs, but
one big common sump. Takes 60 quarts (15
gallons) of UTF that meets or exceeds
(not just "compatible with ") New Holland
spec 134D hydraulic/transmission oil. 56
quarts, if it's a 540 only pto... but
every 7600 I've come across has been
540/1000.

Thanks alot I'll be getting the fluid together. Do you know where the drain plugs are/how many and do I just feel it up at the top of the transmission?

Three drain plugs.

Can be refilled either at the top of the
transmission or at the top of the lift
cover, just behind the seat and slightly
right of center. With the common sump,
use whichever is easier. My 7600 has a
cab, so I use the fill plug on the lift
cover.

My operators manual call for ford 7700 to use....
M2C53A Hydraulic fluids in the transmission/rear end..
M2c41a in the power steering

This would be the row crop version of your 7600.

ironically the 5000 owners manual calls for
m2c53a for hydraulic and m2c41a for power steering.

The newer 7710 manual calls for m2c134 oil for hydraulics and m2c41a oil for power steering. The m2c134 has NO letters after it.

The even newer 7710 II manual calls for m2c134b or m2c159a, or m2c86-b hydraulic oils and m2c41b oil for power steering.
