I have a Ford 860, 1957 that I am attempting to breath new life in and I have a couple of questions.
1. When I look for parts I see both 860 listed and 800. From what I can tell the 860 is part of the 800 series. So will 800 parts work on my 860?
2. I do not have a sediment bowl on this tractor. Currently it is a straight fuel line to the carburetor. I was told by a tractor repair place to install an in-line filter. However I had read somewhere that you could not use this on these tractors. Should I get a sediment bowl or should the filter work?
3. On the side of the tractor where the air intake is my tractor has a external mount of some sort that looks like maybe a glass bowl/jar is mounted under it. Any thoughts on what this is or where I could get a replacement?

"will 800 parts work on my 860?"

The 860 is a specific model of the 800 series - the 860 has a 5 speed transmission with a live PTO. Some transmission parts are unique to the 860, other than that 800 series parts are generally the same. See the attached link to go to the official Ford/NH parts look up. If there is any doubt on
parts, I go there and get the part number and also check if there was any options available associated with the area I am servicing.

"should I get a sediment bowl"

IMO, yes. The original design has a proven 60+ year history, It does work. Inline filters can work, they need to be designed for gravity flow systems, installed correctly, and changed regularly. Sediment bowls and banjo bolts are available at this site at a reasonable cost.

"air cleaner"

The N series Fords had a 'cyclone' external pre filter available. I am uncertain if the 800 series had something like this as an option. Likely someone else here will know.

It origionally had a metal cup filled with oil clamped on. You need to install one yesterday because the air is not being filtered which will shortly damage engine.

I think Ford800HSA2019 is talking about the Cyclone pre-cleaner, not the actual air cleaner. The part he is referring to is called a Cyclone air cleaner glass jar. Ford800HSA2019, verify if yours is threaded to the cup or spring clipped to it. All parts are available from this site as well as other places. There is the glass jar, the seal and a new cup with springs if needed. They don't really look to be that expensive either.
