Ok still new to tractors in general. My 860 was getting hot this summer and then stumbling. I would like to back flush it and put in a new thermostat. How do you backflush a tractor? I am familiar with cars, you backflush through the heater hose. Is there an adapter that lets you do something similar for a tractor?

I have never heard of one, but I have made some custom adaptations with various fittings and adapters from the plumbing aisle at my local hardware store. You will of course want to remove the thermostat, and a caution for reinstalling it is to be sure that the T-stat is in the groove in the housing pipe before putting it back together or you will break the pipe. I use 2-3 little pieces of putty to hold it in place.

The gas line in an 860 runs behind the manifold and tends to over heat the gas and causes problems. See archives. I rerouted my
gas line around the engine and away from the manifold and it never vapor locked again. Make sure this isnt your problem.
