Ok still new to tractors in general. My 860 was getting hot this summer and then stumbling. I would like to back flush it and put in a new thermostat. How do you backflush a tractor? I am familiar with cars, you backflush through the heater hose. Is there an adapter that lets you do something similar for a tractor?

The gas line in an 860 runs behind the manifold and tends to over heat the gas and causes problems. See archives. I rerouted my gas line around the engine and away from the manifold and it never vapor locked again. Make sure this isnt your problem.

I have never heard of one, but I have made some custom adaptations with various fittings and adapters from the plumbing aisle at my local hardware store. You will of course want to remove the thermostat, and a caution for reinstalling it is to be sure that the T-stat is in the groove in the housing pipe before putting it back together or you will break the pipe. I use 2-3 little pieces of putty to hold it in place.
