Ok here?s where I am right now. Just a little info, the tractor I?m attempting to get running again had been sitting unused for probably 20 years. The fuel tank is surprisingly clean but the lines are long rusted away so I rigged a temporary fuel supply, cleaned the carb and installed a new bowl gasket, hooked up some jumper cables to my old pickup and it fired right up. Initially this tractor was parked because the clutch stopped working. I was just a kid and didn?t think to check into it. Now, after making an adjustment to the clutch linkage it seems to be working. I was able to move it back and forth as far as my jumper cables would let me travel. I?m just st taking baby steps here and want to see if it?ll operate as it should without throwing a lot into it so here?s my plan. I was thinking to just get a cheap 12 volt battery, put a resistor in line with the coil and see how it does. This is a just for now fix to get it running long enough to see if it?s worth doing it right. Will this work at least temporarily? If it works out I have no plans to do anything other than make it a usable piece of equipment. No full on restoration or anything like that. Just a runner to do some light shredding and whatnot with.
