Used equipment dealer has a " Ford 5000 high arch " for sale. His ad has a pic of a Ford 5200, a 1968 and up tractor with square 2 pc grill.Im thinking its a 1970s version because of the foot steps being attached to the flat deck. Ad also claims this tractor has "selectomatic" (selecto speed)
I never knew Ford had selecto speed as an option on 5200s. Did a few 5200s leave the factory with the selecto speed option.
Can any 5200 gurus comment on this tranny option?

Ford did not build many variations on the 5000 platform like they did the 3000 and 4000 models but the Select O Speed option was available pretty much across the board.
So a 5200 with SOS would not surprise me at all.

You see them from time to time. We have one that we tractor pulled it for several years with a 9600 turbo on it. Use it around the farm now. Still have the turbo on it and the pump opened up. Running well over 100hp

I would buy it if I had a chance. I would love to add a few parts and have a 7200 SOS. I know some guys hate those trannys, but if they are 40-60 years old and still working they cant be all bad. In there place they are nice. I have run one for 30+ years and still going. Al
