601 lift

Still having trouble with lift. It will work sometime and then stop working. I had it raised a portion of the way and would turn the engine over and the lift would continue to come up. I let the lift completely down and now it will not move. I think there is a valve sticking somewhere. I have verified the control valve is moving. My main question is in the I and T manual FO-20. In fig fo264 should there be a spring on the stack up of parts 45 and 46. The book does not show one but I do not understand how this valve works without one. Also in fig F O269 the book does not show a spring on part 94 relief valve. How does it work with out a spring. Any help is welcome as I am chasing myself with this problem.

o spring associated with 45, 46. The large end of that unloader valve acts as a piston with hyd pressure applied to either side of it, as directed by movement of control valve. Depending on which side of it is the high pressure side, it will move forward or backward (forward in Hold & Lower and to rear for Lift). The small end directs pressure to dump back into the sump via backpressure valve (in Hold & Lower) and to ram cylinder (in Lift). Relief (94) assembly has a spring & ball inside the assembled valve & if you open it, the pressure setting will be lost.

ould be, as if stuck in unload position, it will not lift and this unloader valve sticking is a very common problem.

How do I check it. I have it out and do not see any rust lines or scoring, the oring looks okay

needs to be very free to move....almost fall by gravity.

This one is not that loose. It has to be pushed a considerable amount to move. How do I loosen it up?

am assuming that it is a soft material O-ring vs the iron O-ring. If yes, the it is safest to get a new one from CNH & not try to use a generic O-ring.

It has been said on this website, got to NH and get the "correct o-ring" although I have never had any trouble with one out of and assortment kit.

o-ring is a -114 a very common o-ring. I use Buna-n are you could step up to Viton your call... Use round o-rings for this application not square cut o-rings.

You throw out the o-ring engineering specs for this application its not a normal o-ring sealing application the valve needs to move freely with just enoufh drag to keep it in place.

You can use a .25 cent o-ring are a CNH $5.00 o-ring its your call they all come from China with an original cost of 10 cents...

Yes I did buy a CNH $5 o-ring to satisfy my curiosity from that point on I I brought a bag of'em are used what I had in my o-ring kit...
