Ford 6600 4 position key

Good evening,

As things are cooling off I'm trying to prep my Ford 6600 diesel for winter. I have a 4 position key as opposed to the 5 position key shown in the manual. It goes from
vertical, one stop right with no dash lights, one more stop right with dash lights, and then the start position. Is one of these a pre-heat position? And for how long
should it stay to warm it up? There is a block heater in it, but I don't have power in the shed yet to plug it in.

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like someone installed the wrong key switch in the past, or else you don't have the thermostart, which was an option. The correct key switch should have 2 spring loaded positions. One for thermostart, and one for crank.

Look for the thermostart plug in the front of the intake manifold. You should see a fuel line and 10 gauge wire attached to it.

Maybe this will Help

The original switch had 2 positions counter clockwise. The 1st was preheat and the 2nd was preheat and start. Once started the key needs to be turned clockwise to the on position.
