I'm working on a Ford 600. I believe it's a 1957. I have the engine separate from the tractor.
I'm trying to figure out how far to take it down to clean and paint. The side of the engine with side cover/distributor/dipstick and hydraulic pump have me a bit concerned. Can I just pull the two bolts holding the pump to clean that side of the tractor and then prime/paint. I will cover the connection to the block. I figure there is a gasket or O-rings. I don't want to take something off and find out it's hard to replace or get back together. There is a large manifold hanging below the hydro pump and I want to clean and paint all this.
Any concerns or just pull the two bolts and hydraulic pump comes off?
I also don't have the water pump, pulley or water outlet connector from engine. should I pull all that and again, can I get or make simple gaskets?
I don't quite see how to pull the pulley off the water pump or maybe just clean and paint while one piece? I think I need some type of puller.
thanks, moday
