A guy contacted me trying to sell his non running 4000 gas tractor with a loader and 4 x4 kit on it. I've heard of those but never seen one. Who makes the kit and are they good and reliable. As you can see in the pic hee gas chained up front wheels and has pie weights on the rear tires. He says $500 for the whole works. I'm waiting for more pics from him . Any info on this 4 x 4 would be appreciated.

This is either a scam or the wife is getting more than even with her man.
Not one to look a crazy gift horse in the mouth, but with all the scams nowadays one needs to be careful. How did she get your contact information, was there any links in the emails? Get an address and go look
at it. Just cause that's crazy cheap unless you are selling someone else tractor. That is a great deal just a little hard to believe, I would go over with a trailer. Tractor prices are down a bit in these
parts but not that much! The wheel weights are worth that alone. I would normally make an offer of like $400.00 but not on this one. Pay the full amount and get in on the trailer before her husband comes
home. That's is so cheap that you should feel bad purchasing it. Please let me know if you decide to pass on it. disclaimer: please takes this with a grain of salt as I am wishing you all the best!!!
I had good email contact with the guy yesterday. It could be a scam...dunno yet. He replied to my craigslist ad wanting to buy a non runner 3000 or 4000 diesel tractor . Last i heard from him was yesterday when i asked him for some more pics of the 4 x 4 front end and he said he would get more pics. I haven't heard from him today yet . I have sent him several more emails to remind him about the pics ... no word yet
Fingers crossed for you on this one that this is legit. Not many Elencos ended up that far out in the northwest part of the country. Most ended up in the New England area or the midwest part of the country. If it is a later version, it may have the cast front axle and the disengage nut on the back of the transfer case. Good luck!

ELENCO was the company who made 4WD setups for the FORD tractors; they were never OEM from the factory. Tony Jacobs is the ELENCO guru so try him.

Feels like a scam, but who knows? send him the 500.oo (let me guess, he wants it in Walmart cards or sent Western Union?) and hope for the best.
When/IF you get it, I'll give you 400.oo for those rear weights so you'll only have 100.oo into it......
