can someone tell me what fluid goes in the power steering pump. this pump on my tractor is on the left side mounted along side the engine. it is also missing the cap, would anyone know where to get just the cap ?

The cap is avaible rite here on this site. On upper left under tractor parts . Uses same fluid as trans/hyd does. Can use automatic trans fluid or engine oil in a pinch.

If the pump is loosing oil, but you dont see it leaking anywhere on the tractor,,,, its common for the front seal to go bad and it will pump fluid in to the engine crankcase. In this case I would use the same fluid as in the engine so you dont damage the engine, until you eventually replace the pump.

i was wonder if someone can tell me the correct fluid for the power steering pump on this 1070 ford 4000 SU. it had the pump and reservoir down on the side of the engine.
can i get the fluid from a auto parts store? i am not sure what fluid is in the hydraulic pump either. the cap end up missing from the last owner and i am stuck on this simple problem. and need to add fluid NOW.
