How To Wire-Up An Alternator on a 3000 Gas

I need to install a 3-wire Delco alternator on a Ford 3000 gas for a Friend. I never did a 3 cyl or
newer tractor. I have installed many on the older Ford tractors with good results.
I need a good wiring diagram or directions as how to do it. I know that the heavy wire from the
generator goes to the large post on the alternator and #2 terminal goes back to that same wire and then
that wire would go to the battery terminal that was on the regulator. Now the #1 terminal in the
alternator would go back to the WL terminal on the regulator.
I can take all the terminals off the regulator now. Is this the correct way to do this?

I'm by no means an electric guru but a 3 cyl is one of those "so easy a caveman could do it" jobs.
There are 5 wires (plus a ground) going to the existing voltage regulator. Three fat wires and two skinny wires.
Connect all 3 fat wires together. Connect the 2 skinny wires to each other.
Reground the ground wire.
I like to solder the connections and use shrink tubing to cover them.
Then go to the site below to connect the generator/alternator end.
Hook the fat wire to batt and skinny wire to #1 per the diagram.
Make a short jumper from the #2 terminal to the batt terminal on the back of the alternator. Now make a ground wire to go from the alt to the engine.
Nothing else has to be touched or removed on the original harness and you can actually do it all on the tractor.
Click here and scroll about halfway down for the diagram.
