960 hydraulic problems

Good afternoon. Asking for some guidance here. This is my first post so here it goes:

I have a 960 tractor that has a 3 point that will not lift weight. It won't lift me, 230 lbs, but will lift slow with no weight. I have checked the fluid level, changed the fluid, primed the pump and nothing.

Along with this I also have a ford front loader that has a remote valve on top of the hydraulic system. I worked great, but since the 3 point problem it now will not lift the loader. The bucket will operate though.

I have not pulled the inspection plate or tested pressure. I have suspicions that is might have something to do with the draft control or week pump, but it happened quickly.

I do look thru the fill hole and do not see oil leaking or anything unusual, but I am not familiar with this so I wouldn't really know.

This tractor has a side pump at the rear of the engine.

Any suggestions are appreciated. I have the tractor ready to pull off the top of the housing and inspection cover but thought I would ask first before I did that. Thank you!!

ppears that your loader and 3 point both operate off of same pump, so................I would be looking at pump, unless the lines thru transmission are leaking.

Pipeliner1287,
Your hydraulic system works on a priority system. The remote valve for the loader get the pressure first, then the 3 ph.
My point is that one of the spools of the valve MAY have malfunctioned or is out of position. The hydraulic pressure will be diverted before it gets to the 3 PH.

I bumped one of the levers on my valve this spring and the 3 PH suddenly was VERY SLOW to raise and I had to rev the engine to get it to even move.
After I scratched my head a few times, the light bulb came on and I wiggled the levers and presto, it was back to normal.

This is something to check before you go tearing it apart.

May not be your problem, but may help to diagnose it too.

All, thank you for the comments. I did pull the upper cap off. when looking in the inspection hole I found oil squirting from the other side of the internal cylinder housing. I could not see where it was coming from.

I have shown the picture, but when I pulled the top I found a broken Oring on the pressure side of the tube. Could this have been my leak? I am going to go ahead and put a new ring on the 3 point piston and also rebuild the hydraulic pump.

Any more suggestions on what I should replace while I am in this far and opinions whether the Oring could be my problem?

Thank you

While you are at it I would remove the transmission cove and drain it and check the steel hydraulic lines for significant rust.

Sirs, does my tractor have a hydraulic pressure relief valve?
I?ve notive on some posts that on the N tractors they have
replaced them, but cannot find one on my 900 series

I will drain the transmission and look at the tubes. Thanks for
the heads up!
