Ford 2000 3 cyl. 8 speed?

I seen a 3 cyl. 2000 yesterday for sale on the side of the road that looked like a nice clean original tractor but had an 8 speed, also had a black bezel clockwise tach. Just wondering if this is really a 2000 or 3000 with wrong decals. I have a 71 3000 with white bezel counter-clockwise tach, did the later ones have the clockwise tach and did the 2000s ever come with an 8 speed? also what year did they stop making the 2000/3000 tractors?..Thanks Ray

An 8 speed was always optional on a 2000
- with or without live pto.
On the later 2/3/4000s it is a pretty
simple matter to change the tach drive
to the 26/36/4600 style drive which is
under the oil filter and not off the
back of the generator.
The 2/3/26/3600s are so close to being
identical that it is hard to tell which
is which - short of IDing one by the
codes on the foil tag under the hood or
stamped into the bell housing - just
above and aft of the starter.
My 3000 is actually a 3600 but you'd
never know that unless you looked up the
codes.

The 2/3000's were built through 1975.
They will have a single lever for the 3-
point hitch. A 26/3600 will have 2
levers, side by side, for the 3-point,
one for draft, one for position control.

Thanks Dog and Farmer for the info, another thing about it is the center of the rear wheels are different than mine, looks like the brake drums are bolted on with lug nuts, then spikes sticking out of the center to center the wheels, then separate lug nuts holding the wheels on.

I have a '65 3000 and it has position and draft levers side by side. My '63 2000 4 cyl has the single lever and a selector on the side of the frame for Draft or Position control.

2000 is a tranny PTO 4 speed and the 3000 an 8 speed-hi/lo with Live PTO if that makes any difference which I doubt.

(quoted from post at 08:13:49 10/07/19) Could you post pictures of that?
Im thinking it had parts swapped at some point.

It's about 60 miles from me farmer and I'm thinking your right. I kind'a lost interest in it now but appreciated your help.
