1969 ford 4000 ???

looking for information on this ford 4000. I m new to the tractor thing and this is my first one . It s not brand new by any means but for a starter it ll work . It won t crank over as if now , it spins good and the battery is strong it just won t fire over . Some of the wiring is in bad shape . I took some pictures to share as well . Any info would be appreciated. The only numbers I could locate are
1201d on the frame by the starter , is this the serial number ???

Southernborn27,
I believe there is one more number in front of your 1201D.
Those numbers are the Model number of the tractor that this transmition was originally installed in.
There is a second number that is further out on that casting, but it may be ate off from battery acid (common on diesels of that era). That would be the serial number.

If that extra number is a 4, you have a 63 or 64 Ford 4000 Diesel.
I am guessing that you will find a 2 there as the rear end of that tractor looks like a 2000.

1st thing is you don't have a 69 Ford 4000!
It's a 63 model 4000 diesel with 4 spd trans
Your wording is a bit confusing, does the starter spin but the engine does not turn (crank) over or does the engine turn (crank) over but won't start and run.
Pushing the throttle lever full forward is what shuts down that models diesel engine, if the engine will crank over open the throttle to half way and the engine should start, if it doesn't you have air in the fuel system or injection pump issues.

Did you hear it run before you purchased it?

Everything is pitted so bad I can t see any other numbers . I ll clean it and see if I can find anything . Thank you for the reply and information .

Everything turns over , it just won t crank and run . Now that you enlightened me on a few things it may have been because I had the throttle all the way forward . I didn t hear it run . The man I bought it from said it sat up for about a month and he couldn t get it started again . I only paid 1k for it so I m not beyond doing a little work to it . From what I ve heard ( could be wrong) these tractors are almost bulletproof proof . Thank you for the reply and advice .

Side note : if my words don t add up I m trying to do this on an iPhone

We know there's folks from all over here
that say things different but you wrote:

"Everything turns over , it just won t
crank and run."

I would guess that to most of us here
"turns over" and "crank" means the same
thing.
The engine turns over but won't fire.
Or
The engine cranks but won't start.
Either way would be less confusing.

Pull cap off injector pump and see if meter valve will move ,if not free it up,put cap back on and see if it start ?It look like a 4000 to me,hood emblem, and rear end look like a
4000 ???

I tried to edit the subject in the post to change it to 63 but it won't let me . all in all is this a good tractor ? I don't mind some money into it

Do not tear into the injection pump until you've checked every other possible problem.
Have you tried starting it with the throttle opened to at lease half throttle.
Check the oil level in the engine, those pumps are known to leak fuel into the oil pan, this can also make them hard to start.
How much fuel does it have in the tank?

I m gonna try starting it at half throttle when I get home . Oil level is good . The tank is only half full .
