A friend bought this tractor. Is it really a 3600? THe aircleaner is middle left and not forward right on Tractor data pics.

also the gas tank on the left side seems to show a different model number, though the number isn't legible. The bottom picture is block number. THe plate under the hood says it is a 3600, but if that part of the hood has been replaced it might not match.

Part of the confusion may be accepting Tractor data info as fact, as they say 3600 was made after 1975. The serial under the hood which clearly says 3600 is ca223c 7f01b, meaning it was made in 1967. The rest of the info is right for the serial it is regular wide front, 8 spd,

It has all the correct appearances of a 3600 gasser. Air cleaner in the left side hood,
Exhaust pipe farther forward than a 65-75 model,
One piece grill, flying nun fenders, correct tach direction.
Remember they didn't give the decade so the
7F01b could be June 1st 1967 or June 1st 1977 (maybe even 87 - not sure on that new) but I would say it's a 3600.
The serial number codes will also be hand stamped (not cast into) a flat spot on the bell housing just above and aft of the starter.
See photo for example.
Tell your friend he bought an outstanding small tractor!

If it really is a 3600 (which it appears to be), and the date code starts with a 7, then it means 1977, not 1967. The 600 series were built between 1975 and 1981.

and got it for $2000. Lots of little things wrong with it-starting system, idiot lights on. There is a sending unit on the left side of the block right near the back of the alternator. What ever that is there isn't even a wire going to it. Everything wrong with that tractor could probably be fixed with a new wiring harness.

Air filter on the right front was only on the diesel 3600. The air filter on yours is correct for a gasoline engine 3600.

Yes it is a 3600, because I own one, and I don't think the 3000 had power steering. I've got a diesel. Great tractors.

Power steering was an option on both the 3000 and 3600.
