Ford 345C steering gear box leaking.

For lack of a better term, it's the rack and pinon unit under the front end that has the two hydraulic lines attached to it. Is there an online parts reference manual somewhere where I can look to see what could be leaking there?

Thanks

Tom

Should be two hydraulic steering cylinders under the nose of the tractor. Here's some links to parts diagrams:

Front axle and steering for 345C with 2WD

Front axle and steering for 345CD with 4WD

I'm not 100% sure which cylinder goes with 2WD and which goes with 4WD, but here are the links to the parts drawing for the two types of cylinders, which are probably what are leaking if it's not the lines. I think from the orientation of the fittings for the lines, the first one is for 2WD and the seond one is for 4WD:

TRW cylinder

Cascade Cylinder

445A has to steering cylinders with a dragline connecting the steering arms together.
Haven't compared the number but looks just like the ones in the posted links.

Darn auto correct!
Should have said two steering cylinders and a drag link.

If it's leaking up front you have either a cylinder, line or fitting leaking.

Ken's 545 has the same steering I think.
There isnt a rack and pinion under there
though. The lines come from the steering
motor to a plate that's attached to the
bottom of the bolster then T off to go
the respective cylinders. His had been
damaged by a bump and only place for
parts was CNH except the hydraulic shop
told him he could fix the leak by means
of a thin copper washer in the flare
fitting. It worked.
Photo shows the lines connected to the T
under there.
And yes, my back is wet from laying
under there to get the photo. It just
quit raining...

Yup, that is it. It must just need the fittings tightened up. Thanks guys.
