Ford 172 diesel engine head

I am reassembling my Ford 172 diesel. As part of the rebuild, I sent the head to the shop to be reground. Apparently, I left some parts on the head and the machinist took them off and put them in a bag for me. I am now completing the assembly and put coolant in the radiator. When I did so, I discovered that there remains an opening in the head. It is just below the opening to secure the fuel tank bracket and battery holder on the right side. I don't have any spare parts left and have no idea what goes into this hole. I looked at my parts manuals and repair manuals, but I can't find the part or a part number. Any suggestions?

I don't think so. The temp gauge is connected to the other side of the engine, in the block. Thanks for the reply.

Temp probe connects to the head on the right rear side just below the bolt that mounts the battery box to the head.
