Can some please correct my obvious misunderstanding of how to set the initial timing on a ford 841? If I understand it correctly the I&t manual F0-20 indicates that to set the initial timing the marker on the timing port should line up with 24 degree mark on the flywheel and the distrubutor should be adjusted so that the points are just starting to open. When I do this the rotor is pointing to the number 4 post on the distributor indicating it is 180 off. When I rearrange the wires support the 180 off all I get is backfires but putting them in there original configuration does not produce anything. This is a 6 volt pos ground with 841 156609 stamped above the starter.
