One of the biggest to carry the Ford name along with one of the smallest.
My cousin bought the FW60 from the sale in Greenbush, MN and had it delivered here. I bought the LGT125 last week... just though it would be fun to get a picture of them together.

Impressive display! That said, neither one of them is really a Ford. The FW60 is a Steiger, and the LGT is a Jacobsen.

Also, I see that the V8 was replaced with an inline 6 in the FW60.

Correct on all counts... which is why I said "to carry the Ford name".
My cousin was told the 903 was replaced by the 855 about five years ago. The hour meter (supposedly put in at the same time) shows 18xx hours. Starts super quick and has good oil pressure.

We had the hydrostat transmission out of a 1210 last week and hydraulic and AC problems on a TW 25. That is also quite a difference in size. Both are back on the job now. Wish I had taken pictures of those.

Do I see a splice in the hood and front frame section were they stretched it to get the longer 855 to fit.
I liked those old 903's but 855 has more torque and cost less to rebuild.

Yes, they lengthened it about a foot.
855 runs a couple hundred rpm slower,
too. IIRC, the 903 was rated at 2600 rpm.
(And the 555 in the FW20 was at 2850 rpm)

I think your post is AWESOME, and not to take anything away from it, after Steiger and Ford parted ways and Ford went with Versatile the tractors got really refined, and are still relevant in today's world.

A WONDERFUL machine to operate...

My cousin (same one who bought the FW60)
bought a Ford/Versatile this spring, too.
I'll agree that it is more refined... but
it should be, being 13 years newer.
Like most of the tractors and equipment
he buys, the 876 is for sale, but I get
to use it in the meantime.
