Ford 3000 Ford 3600 engine swap

How many modifications need to be done to put a Ford 3600 diesel engine into an older 3000 diesel ?

Will need the 3000's exhaust manifold, as
a 3600's exits farther forward. Keep the
flywheel from the 3000. (Flywheels stay
with their respective transmissions.)
Otherwise, should be a straight bolt in.

Not much. As I recall, one of the major differences is the size and angle of the opening in the intake
manifold. You cannot swap the manifolds, you'll need to adapt the hose. The exhaust manifold is also
different, but can be swapped between the two engines.

Why does the flywheel need to stay with the tranny? If they both have the double clutch, they should be the same.

If they use the same clutch, then yes, the flywheels should interchange.
