This weekend my brother in law picked up a 960 ford. The machine is complete and appears the be mostly original. It was barn kept most of its life. The previous owner aquired it by purchasing an old gentlemen's property who left it behind.

So he ended up giving $1000 for it knowing that something could be internally wrong with it. It would only turn over a bit in either direction by rocking the tires back and forth.

So we get it home and find that it has thrown the number 1 cylinder rod. Cam unglued at the crank. Its destroyed. Block is cracked by the water pump from inside cylinder 1. Crank is severely scarred and distorted.

Does any one have a lead on a good bottom end? Or even a block or crankshaft.? Located in PA. Thanks every one.

Board member Kirk is in New Jersey
somewhere. Maybe he'll weigh in yet
tonight but most days he is here early
in the morning.
I know he has a bunch of Fords and parts
for them and may have something for you
or may know someone out your way who
does.
I have bought from Wengers before and
can attest to them being honest sellers.
But... They are a big outfit and will
charge big prices. So I would rather buy
from a private party, especially if they
are a respected member of this board.

I have a 960. good tractor. they made a lot of those motors . several series had them. would seem though you just need to find another complete motor. the one you have really doesn't sound very good. I would also suggest because you have to pull the motor is to replace the transmission seal while you have it apart and inspect your double clutch. good luck with your tractor.
