Ford 611 w/ Sherman Backhoe Ford Loader

My son and I recently purchased this 1960 Ford 611 equipped with a Sherman backhoe and a Ford loader. I have found very little about this model. I did contact tractordata and he assured me the 611 did not come with a PTO. This one does have the hydraulic pump mounted where the PTO would be and has the cable to engage it. I couldn't find any pics of a 611 online so I uploaded some to Pintrest.

We had a lot of trouble with a plugged fuel valve on the tank and had to use a tire off of another tractor. and purchased a front tire and rim at the WRV antique show and replace all of the loader's hoses. I also rerouted the lines from the hoe to also power the loader, originally the loader had its own front pump. It will also need brake shoes. Other than these, the tractor is in excellent shape so I think that it only really needs a repaint. It always starts easy and doesn't smoke at all. We changed the engine oil and filter and the hydraulic oil and filter. I have never seen hydraulic oil that black and after a few hours use I will have to change the filter again because it is already starving the pump. I have some work to do on the hydraulic cylinders or the spool valve as nearly all of the functions have bad drift but we did trench a sewer line in with it.

Any information, pictures or where to procure the correct decals would be appreciated.

Hello Ken , That is a very rare and unique tractor , that being said doesn t mean it s worth more than any other Ford . 611 is a Select-O-Speed with out three point and pto , and that looks to be the original transmission looking at the stamps . The decals are Correct for that tractor as they are the original ones . George Braddish in Penn. can help you with decals . The loader is a Ford 703/19-97 and it does not have down pressure on the lift it only lowers by gravity , the bucket will have double acting cylinders though . The backhoe looks like a Sherman F-9 or 54C100 ? There should be a tag on it with model number and serial numbers on it . Thanks Tony

Hello Ken , I forgot to add that tractor probably was bought new by a Catholic Cemetery , I have purchased lots of Fords from the Catholic Cemetery s out by me , I wouldn t be surprised if ole Henry Ford didn t make a deal with the Pope years ago to sell Fords to them . Thanks Tony

I do believe I spoke to George on the phone a little bit ago and the decals are now on the way. He also said that the pto had been an option on the 611. Thanks for the help.

My son Kegan pointed out today that the left tire is on backwards. No biggie since it is borrowed off of our 8n but then he pointed out that the fenders are on backwards also. I had not even noticed, I reckon that they will stay that way until I start taking if apart for painting.
