I ordered some parts for Y/t,I need a starter drive and a few other things. They have everything I
Needed but one thing.

It may not be necessary Im not sure, but what it is is a small canister that tells you when the air
cleaner needs changing? Its a plastic or glass type thing with a spring inside?Mine is cracked a
broken off.Where would I get one,,and is it necessary or should I Just leave it alone?it is located
just before the carburetor

Probably something you really don't need but but I found a Donaldson mini restriction indicator on eBay for $14 some regular sized ones on Amazon for $8
Parts search showed you could have the indicator or a cap to plug the hole.
Threads should be 1/8" pipe so a 50 cent cap will work.

The hole does need to be plugged to prevent dirt from be sucked in.

I don't think I've ever seen one of those on a 65-75 3 cyl ag model tractor. Maybe on an industrial or uility and maybe on a 76 and later ag model but never on a 2/3/4000.
Not saying it wasn't an option but I've never seen one.

I agree, never seen one on a pre-'75 3 cylinder Ford from the factory. Also, a 2000 diesel would have an oil bath air cleaner, not a replaceable filter.

I also thought that on the later ones that did have them, that they were electric sensors that lit up a warning light on the instrument cluster when the air flow was restricted. This one sounds like a mechanical one that you have to look at the actual sensor to see the red flag, so it was probably added by some previous owner who thought he needed one.

Isn't Larry's 2000 a gas burner?
My brother's 72 model 3400 gasser has a restriction indicator in the intake pipe just before the carb like Larry's.
Since the ag and industrial models used the same style piping Ford may have went to a one pipe fits all to reduce inventory, then ether screw on the indicator or a simple 1/8" pipe cap.

Might depend on the year. They were standard equipment on the 2000 and 3000 by 1973. (Picture taken from '73 Buyer's Guide)

My '73 4000 has no such indicator, but mine was bought as a fleet sale to the state highway department and it came from the factory with a gasoline engine and an oil bath air cleaner, which isn't supposed to be a thing, but mine is.

What you need is part 7a (cap) or 7b (indicator)

This is not a necessary must have item so you can take it off a install a cap.
You should be able to find one that will fit at any hardware store.

If you want to replace it I would suggest you get a aftermarket one.
Donaldson Servisignl - X002251 is the cross part available for about $15
But you could always support the New Holland dealer. He only wants $51.25 for the part.
