Ford 960 wide front tie rods

Yep..... they're the most elusive thing on this tractor. Reseigned to fact that I will have
to make a new set. The old ones, if they are the original and thats a big if have been cut
on, welded on so much are not adjustable.

Does anyone know for fact the tapers/size of the ball joints ( inside and outside) that were
used on the widefront tie rods. I'm not convinced of what I have currently are the correct
ones.

Any chance that there is a tie rods crossover lurking out there?

Any help appreciated!!

You most likely will have to make a set, as I've thought about doing this myself. I believe the steering arms are the same as the 800, so I had thought of getting the tie rods for the 800, then welding them on to the original 960 tie rods.

Hi John

Yep....looking at parts to weld or screw together.....how ever I am going to talk to a few people about Massey parts from the mid 50's. These manufactures were having a love hate relationship back then and might have an outside chance that one of the Massey's may share a tie rod of the same type. I know some parts between the tractors then we're interchangeable.

few years back I had the same problem I went on ebay and found one I think was an Allis. I bought it. put It on and the only problem was the adjustment places were off so I used a grinder to make couple new places. worked great. shaft was the same size as the ford but couple inches shorter if I remember right.
