Ford 3000 lift problems

Hello all, I?m new to the page and seeking help on my 1972 ford 3000. I have looked at other forums on this page but can?t seem to find a topic that fits my exact problem. As said before o have a 1972 ford 3000 diesel. The tractor has been on my farm for nearly 12 years. My dad bought it to use for light work on the farm such as bush hogging, setting out hay, and minor grading work. However about 5 years ago the lift quit working properly, it still lifts however just not as much. For instance you can raise it all the way up with a bush hog attached and the front (PTO) side is only about 6 inches off the ground. When you push the lever down to lower the bush hog if you push it only 1/4? the bush hog lowers all the way down. It doesn?t slam it just slowly goes all the way down to the ground. There is no in between, it?s either all the way up (6 inches) or all the way down on the ground. I?m looking into restoring it this winter for a winter project and thought I would ask what you all thought was wrong or where to even start? Thank you, and have a great day!

Do you know whether it's in draft or position control? The little crooked lever on the right side just under the seat. Pointing up or toward the front? I don't use it much so I never remember but try it both ways.

Ive found that its sometimes hard to say this is most likely the problem when it comes to the lift. Theres a lot going on in there and it seems most people dont know how to work on them. Found that out when I took my lift off and took it to the local NH dealer... place knew nothing about them.

If the lift isnt fully responding to the lever I would check the pin that rides on the cam first. Ive read those wear out and will cause the lever to be less responsive. Mine had been replaced in the past and had very little wear but there were lots of other issues. Click on my name and check out my thread I made. It has lots of pics in it.
