just heard of a ford 900 i could get for trade, now me and the old jubilee has been together for over 30 years and it needs nothing, the 900 is bigger, more powerful and a lp, which isnt really a real big deal, id have to trailer it to get filled, but id trailer it to work it anyway,it would primarily be for brush hogging jobs, its a 4 speed, [ i thought all 900's were 5 speeds] but looking it up, they arnt, its a narrow front, but has a wide front sitting next to it for a bit extra, tires are supposed to be 80 percent or better and it runs good the old guy isnt really pushing the sale, but its available to limited people would the trade up be worth it, or should i just stick with what has worked, even if i occasionally run short on hp

The 900 series had the 940 which was a 4 speed, the 950 which has a 5 speed, and the 960 which has a 5 speed with live PTO. The power is great as I use it to grade the driveway and it flat outpulls the Jubilee. If you are thinking of brush hogging with it, I would definitely go for the wide front like mine has.

I would not consider an LP powered vintage tractor for a worker.

Much too inconvenient and some parts are difficult if not impossible to find.

For the last thirty years I have been doing a lot of my farm work with my 960, 961 and 971. They are all NFE and are all a joy to use with their nimbleness.

I much prefer the narrow fronts on the 900 series. Wasn't too long a go. If you called your fuel supplier they would come out and fill your Lp tractor here. May not do it anymore.

Some random thoughts:
I think the best thing would be to buy it outright. Drive it for a while and keep the one you like better. To trade 30 years of history on your present tractor for a tractor you do not know would be tough for me to do.
You may not like a row crop. Just getting up and down on one would be very different from a utility.
As to the NF/WF debate, I prefer them Narrow. The Wide front adds at least a foot to the wheelbase and diminishes one of the primary advantages of the row crop namely, its nimbleness and short turning radius.
I happen to think the NFs are more attractive too.

Well UD, since you said it, yes, the 900 NFE and the 901 NFE are the best looking tractors ever made. So there is another good reason to buy it.

LP challenge might be worth it. Fuel up with hose from any storage tank (You will have to drag tractor to it if you run out) and its cheap. Fork lift dealers have parts and service for newer engines ,but you may need to change carburetor or regulator. When working correctly they are easier to start than a diesel and will idle better than a gasoline.

Agree with others go for the 900. Something to consider with the wide front, They didn't come out with them until 1957 late in the 900 model run. Most 900s didn't have them so the tractor might not have an interchangeable front pedestal. It isn't a big deal so long as the one you get have the bolster top frame with the pedestal. I know them made an aftermarket one but I'm unaware of how it hooks up.

the jubilee is a good tractor but doesn't compare at all to the 900 series ford. 900 is a lot more powerful. like all tractors you have to always be carful when drivng. nf is diff than wf.

i know on the narrow fronts lol i grew up on them, there are some things you just dont do with one, but ive never tipped one over

I can think of three times when I have been very close to tipping a tractor. They were all wide fronts and none were my own. No close calls on any of my NFEs
