Injection Pump Problem TW35

I think the injection pump on my TW35 has gone kaput! Ran fine yesterday and went to start it this morning and nothing. No smoke, the primer (cold start) button on the pump will not snap in. I shot it with a little either and it would try to run but you could tell it was only running on the either. I've seen pumps go bad before without warning. Do you think something in the top of the pump has gone bad?

Don't know the TWs at all, but have you verified good fuel flow to the pump?

Is their fuel shut-off electric or mechanical? If electrical, check battery power. If my batteris get low, my Genesis tractor will quit pulling in the fuel solenoid before it quits cranking the engine.

I have never seen those pumps just suddenly quit. Generally they will get sluggish, or start causing a misfire. I would first verify that I had good fuel supply, then check the drive system.

I agree with Skipper, those pumps don't just suddenly fail like that. Check to make sure the pump is primed by loosening the bleed screw on the pump and that fuel comes out when you stroke the lift pump.

Why will the cold start button not snap in? Even with the throttle wide open, it will not snap in. I shut it off and tractor was running great.

9 times out off ten it is the lift pump that has failed if it happens all at once. This model is oil lubed by engine oil so the internals last way longer than those from a 9600 or older. Check for fuel flow at the head of the pump, after the supply pump. Al

You shouldn't need cold start on a summer day. Pull the button all the way out and try it again. If you really feel that this stuck button is the reason for your problem, pull off the side cover and make sure that the rack moves back and forth freely.
