Ford 5000 select-o-speed clutch housing

Hello all,

Bought a new to me basket case 5000 and when I was putting it back together I found a Crack in the clutch housing for the sos. Can it run with the Crack? If not will a 4000 or 6000 sos housing work?
 


Clutch will likely slip easier with the crack, but may work under light loads.


As to compatibility with 4 or 6000, you can check that out on the NH parts website.
 
I have a complete 5000 SOS transmission
available. Transmission is good, but
shifting cable is broken. Northwest WI.

The part he needs will. Late 4000, 5000 and 6000 all use the same part. Early 4000 will not.

I don't normally look up those links, most times I tried they didn't work.
Since he's talking about the clutch housing in the torque limiter then yes one for a 400 or 6000 will probably work.

Many refer to the clutch housing as the front part of the trans case where the clutch is contained, I assumed it had a cracked case.
My bad.

everything on this one should work, it only has 750 hrs on it. But if you want to get rid of your clutch housing let me know

Not only probably! Late 4000 and 6000 use the same part number as does the 5000. Early 4000 does not.

Thanks everyone I grabbed one off of eBay and it's on the way here.
