1064 Ford 4000 4cyl 3point hitch

My hitch is stuck in the up position was told that the piston is in place. Pulled the plug on hydraulic plate cover system and pushed down on arms and out came fluid and it goes down. What would cause it to not go down with plug in place?

Tractor's nearly 1000 years old! LOL prolly getting tired.

Seriously, it sounds like your unloader valve is stuck. Top deck overhaul is indicated.

Designed to defend England from Norman conquest but they couldn't get enough of them built before William's visit to stem the tide.

(quoted from post at 12:34:58 06/15/19) 1964 lol funny so I have no clue in what you are talking about. Top deck is that where the arms and the level lever is at?

Top deck contains all the components of the hydraulic system, save the pump and tubing from and to it. So, yes, the arms and lever are part of it, as are the unloading valve and lift cylinder.

Use the search feature on this forum and search for "unloading valve". There is a wealth of information, photos and everything. Also, get a parts book and a service manual and read it.
I completely rebuild mine and the worst part is how heavy it is.

(quoted from post at 01:12:37 06/16/19) Do you know where I might find a
replacement of the unloader valve

You likely don't need a new one. Probably just need to clean and polish the existing one and its bore.

i am searching for the manual now i just not sure what one is the right one and also really rather not buy it hahahaha any ideas on where i can get it to download? anyone?

I took top deck off and the lever was actually disconnected. So I connected it and then cleaned out the area inside and it was smudged up. Same with rear diff. Replaced with clean fluid. Now put it together and the is very little fluid pressure at the port onto of the system the plate that has bolt that's like a drain plug almost. But arms are down with piston still up. So arms are down. Would the pump be plugged up with the sludge fluid? And if so taking lines off pump and cleaning it out without taking pump apart should that fix the problem? I went and got a I&T shop manual at local farm mart store. I hope I do not ha e to rebuild it all hahaha huge job to do it.

I doubt the pump would be plugged, but suppose anything is possible.

I'm concerned over your statement, :the arms are down, but the piston is still up."

I was tired when I wrote that hahaha arms are down. I primed the pump 3 times and still no pressure great enough to push arms up. Pulled the accessory plate plug off and fluid barely comes out. If I blow air in the plug arms.go up and if i move lever it will go down. Blew out pipes and installed them all and still arms wont go up. When I pull plug on pump and start tractor fluid flows out it does not shoot out. I tried installing plug while running and barely any resistance. Would this indicate pump needs rebuit?
