Ford tractor ID

Ended up buying another tractor. The plan is to move all the things from a 4500 backhoe to this tractor. From what I was able to get from the book?, the tractor is a 3 cylinder 4000, utility, gas with ind pto 540 and 8 spd transmission. All I know that the tractor is a later 1969 3 cylinder, gas engine with ind pto and 8 spd.

Shaun,
I think you are incorrect.
The bolster and steering is the same on 4400 and 4500.
If he swaps the axle and adds the 4500 hardnose and hyds to this tractor he'll be there.

(quoted from post at 16:58:49 06/13/19) Where are you going to put resivour and mounting hyd pump. 4500 nose will not mount on 4400 bolster.
We have a Ford 4500 (has a 4x4 torque converter transmission) with the loader setup and backhoe setup, I was thinking of swapping the nose and axle on this 4400 and putting the nose and axle onto this 4400. I know at the very lease I'm going to have to swap over; the steering sector, power steering pump (the 4400 has the one that has the reservoir built in), oil pan (hoping not to find any metal in the pan), the fuel tank (is there any cleaner to get diesel out without killing tank) and the hood. I don't think I'm missing anything?. But first I want to get the 4400 going again. So far what I found the 3 pt doesn't go up or down (down at the moment, the tractor needs to be rewired (I have the wiring harness from the Ford 3000). The start needs to touched off and a wire going from the coil to the battery every time you want to start the tractor. The pto doesn't want to stop (I'm guessing that there's a brake or something in there). I'm going to replace all of the fluids in this tractor too. Also we're going to have to swap the tires around.

That's the plan. It's going to suck because of how heavy the nose with axle is. Also I forgot to say that the power steering doesn't work, but it will need fluid.

Are you wanting to do away with the torque convertor trans or what?

The bolsters are different between the 4400 and 4500, bolster for the 4400 is similar if not the same as one for a 5000.
Steering cylinder is mounted differently and not the same cylinder, the 4500's forward mounded cylinder allows room for the hyd pumps supply pipe to route thru the back of the bolster to the control valve, 4400 bolster doesn't allow that.
4500's bolster has tabs cast in to mount the hyd pump and also as tabs cast in the bolster to mount the hard nose.

We thought that you could pull everything off the front end of the 4400 and swap over the 4500 front (& steering sector) end to the 4400 to turn the 4400 into a 4500 with pto and 3pt.

The axle behind the fuel tank is going on to the 4400. I ll take a better picture when I get home.

Yes!
Swapping the 4500's bolster, hard nose and steering onto the 4400's chassis will make it a 4500 with pto, 3 point lift and manual trans.
There's a guy in Ohio that needs a good 4400 bolster and steering cylinder but Ma. is a bit far to travel .

Only if he had one for a ford 4500 and it s only a 24 hour trip :D

After looking for the rear end full indicator plug, I can t seem to find it. I have already found and in unstuck the transmission plug. I don t see it by the right foot board. Anyone know where it would be?
