3000 Lift Won't Stop Raising When In Position Control

Tractor is a Ford 3000 and the problem is with the 3 point lift. When raising in position control, once the control handle gets to a certain point on the quadrant, the lift arms will not stop raising and continue all the way to the fully raised position. This happens when the handle reaches about 2/3 of the way up. With or without a load on the lift arms, it does the same. We have had the tractor for 10 or 12 years and the lift worked fine until last year when using the rotary cutter to clip pasture. The handle stays put when this happens and it happens every time the lift is raised.

I am not familiar with the details of the lift system. Any thoughts or ideas on what might be causing this would be appreciated. Tractor is about a 1974 year model.

Thanks,
Garry

(quoted from post at 09:18:42 06/14/19) Put your Draft Control all the way down.

It is a 3000. It does not have a separate lever for draft control. It has a short lever on the side of the lift housing that selects either draft or position control and a single lever on the quadrant. I have cycled it back and forth a few times but it did not help. Thanks for the idea though.

Sounds like worn and/or out of adjustment internal linkage and/or a worn cam follower pin. You probably need to remove the lift cover and replace any worn parts and then follow the procedures in the service manual to adjust the linkage. You should get the top cover servicing kit from this site and replace all of the o-rings and other seals while you're in there.

Sorry for the disinfo. I have a 4 cyl 2000 and the 3000. I should have gone to the barn and checked which had the second lever.

They both have the second smaller lever to swith between position and draft control. I think he misunderstood your original post and thought you meant there was a second large lever and handle for draft control next to the position control handle like the later 2600/3600/4600 series had.
