What size engine?

I have this irrigation engine that I
bought a couple of years ago.
It's an X block if that helps.
I never learned how to determine the
size.
Hoping it's a 201.
Thank you.

The D at the start of the serial number should indicate a 4xxx model, do it should be a 201. Some (later ones? replacements?) have their displacement indicated on the upper part of the block...right near the head, but I can't remember right now which side. If a 201, it would have 3.3 cast into it.

As Fordfarmer said, the D at the beginning of the serial number indicates the engine was made for a 4xxx series tractor, which should make it a 201, but to be sure do a Google search on the block casting number and you should be able to figure out what size it is. There are generally rebuilt ones out there for sale with practically all of the various casting numbers and even if the first few Google hits disagree with one another as to the size, if you go through enough pages of the returned hits you will usually find a consensus where the vast majority will agree on one size or another.
