4600 diesel - motor oil dilution ?

I have a 4600 tractor with the diesel motor. Relatively new to me. Used mower for 10 hours and the motor oil now is overfull. Drained out about 2 quarts to get back to level. Trans and radiator level has not changed... I assume this might be diesel fuel ? Recommendations on where to look first and tests to run... 2 quarts in 10 hours don't sound like an injector drip.

I did note the steering was 6 oz low and added oil to that... Will continue to monitor ALL levels, just looking for any good ideas.

If you even suspect the engine crankcase oil is contaminated with fuel, you had best solve that problem 1st, running with fuel thinned oil will cause an engine to fail. Check the condition of the oil carefully, see if you can detect by it's viscosity and odor if it is diesel fuel.

Don't quote me and I am sure to be corrected, there is a seal or something that fails on the injection pump. Again, do not quote me, but there does not seem to be any other way for it to get in there. Even if I am wrong, you'll want to take care of this before you run it any further. Gaining fluid in the crankcase is never a good thing.

either power steering pump or injector pump...

If its an SU model, ,,, could the the engine mounted hydraulic pump?? but an "all purpose model" would have a transmission pump...

also if it has a cold start "thermoStart", it can leak diesel into the manifold, but that would be burnt off so should not get into the oil pan.

As others have said,, diesel into the oil is not good for the bearings.

An all purpose ag chassis 4600 would have a pump mounted in the side of the rear axle center housing, not the transmission.
