I have a 55 model 600 and it stalls under any kind of load. How is the governor mounted on the tractor?

The governor is inside the housing on front of engine behind the lower fan belt pulley. Not easy to get to but doable if you have the front end off the tractor like I did. I did get a few pics where you can see the governor lever and housing

dwashebek, dig into the governor if you want, but have you verified that it is getting the gas that it needs?

Besides what Showcrop said, a weak spark can cause that too. When was the last time the tractor got a tune up?

I too think you have a fuel problem. The governor would be the last place I would look
