841 front end issue

My 841, which is nearly perfect in most ways, has a real loose front end and sloppy steering. It has the Anatole/Turkish power steering which seems to work pretty well.

If I make almost any sort of left turn, the front right tire digs in at a steep angle and makes a deep furrow in the ground. I m always afraid it s going to snap right off.

I took it to a country mechanic who has been working on, and rebuilding Ford tractors for decades. He has checked the tie rods and they re good. He says the spindles and control arms are the problem but there is no replacement part for the control arm. He tightened up everything but after driving it around, everything was loose again. He said a machine shop might be able to build up the spindles and "reclock the key ways??" This is off a voice mail and I couldn t understand everything. By the time I got the message he was closed for the weekend.

Any idea what he s talking about? Maybe I should just live with it. When I am shredding, I try to do most of the meadow in right hand turns. If I make a left turn without thinking about it, it ll dig in every time, no matter how slow, unless I make a very wide, gentle turn.
And yes, I use differential braking.

Any idea what s going on?

Thanks!

Yes he is talking about the upper and lower bushing's in the spindle housing. And the key ways in the top that the steering arm clamps over. Purchase the new bushing's and keys then, take them to a good machine shop and they can repair you spindles and key ways. They can also make you a tool to install the bushing's. Pull up the diagram on the Messicks parts page and it will show all the parts you will need. You will need to take your new parts to the shop along with your spindles for sizing.
