starter solend on a 961 ford

on my 961 ford there are two small terminals on the solenoid for the staRTER. I think the one on the left is for the solenoid but what is the one on the right. its the one next to the positive battery cable.
 

In OEM configuration, both are for the starter. IIRC the front (left) one is keyed power. The back (right) is starter switch or ground.
 
The small one on the right is to have battery voltage with the switch on . The left one goes to the starter button So as to activate the starter with the witch on.

OOPS! My memory failed me. Wayne is correct. The left (bottom one on my '63 4000) is the starter switch wire or ground. The right (upper one on my '63 4000) is keyed power.

It has to have both because the pull in coil is insulated from the housing.

t does not matter....unless you are in some originality contest! Either terminals can be connected to ign sw power and the other to starter sw gnd. End of story!

I figured that was so, but was talking OEM configuration.
