Restoration Colors for certain 850 parts??

Wish I had a good reference tractor to use, or some consistently accurate photos, but I don't so I could use some help I am about to start my painting of my newly acquired 850, and can someone tell me the correct color for the following parts. Carb, Steering wheel top nut, Rest-O-Ride seat, Intake portion of the intake/exhaust manifold. I presume Starter and Generator are black. Am using PPG Omni Acrylic Enamel for all. Also, my gas tank was painted red on the bottom half to match the engine, and the light/med grey on the top half to match the hood. Was it done this way from the factory, or did a prior owner do this? If anyone can help, I would really appreciate it as always. Thanks, Larry.

Don't you dare paint your starter or generator black!!!!! The only reason that you see so many that are black is because the auto electric shops have never been interested in keeping everyone's favorite color on hand, and every tractor that went any amount of hours had them in the shop at some time. Heck, two of mine are black right now. The seat and radiator and shroud should be black. The carburetor, the WHOLE manifold as well as the muffler were painted red. The paint soon burned off the exhaust manifold and the back of the muffler but it lasted a lot longer towards the front of the muffler. The tank was aluminized steel so it was originally unpainted. The steering wheel nut as well as the throttle lever, and all of the throttle and governor linkage rods and choke rod were all zinc plated with no paint as was the sediment bowl body. I have a Ford advertising brochure from when the XX1s came out, with real color photographs taken by A. Krafcik Ford staff photographer. There is little difference between the X00s and the XX1s so if you have any other questions give a shout!

To Showcrop, WOW, that had to be one of the most useful forum responses I have ever gotten. I would have gotten half of the items the wrong color. Had no idea the carb was red, so many seem to be painted black. Also, the manifold and muffler, so many are either unpainted or painted with high temp black. The only problem I may have is that the linkage rods and parts are all turning brown, with the original zinc coating no longer there, so I will have to paint them some color for protection. But boy, you sure saved me from making some big mistakes. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.

Larry, the eye likes some contrast, as opposed to something being just one color, so guys like to have some things painted different colors. That is OK, but a lot of people like their tractor to look fairly close to original.
