Valve Seat Remover Tool, Any Alternatives??

Aside from painting the 850 this week, I am also going to refurbish my piston pump on my 1957 850. The new parts kit includes the piston pump valve seats. The shop manual shows Ford had a specific tool for this job, called the Nuday NCA-600G. From the photo in the shop manual (page 403), it looks to be a simple tool. Has anyone done the seat removal with some alternative tool that you made, and if so, would you be willing to share your experience with me? I wonder if I can use a modern broken bolt extractor? ou can use a small bolt/screw to hang the head of it below the seat and spacers above (larger diameter than the seat) with a washer & nut on top to act as a jack screw extractor.
 
Don't know if your pump is the same but I used a tap (1/4-28 I think) to cut a little bit of thread in the seat ID. Seats are pretty hard and didn't want to ruin the tap. Then a screw/washer/nut to pull them. Once the moved about 1/16 they fell out. This was on a 2000 3-cyl.
 
FYI a third-party tool equivalent to Nuday NCA-600G is available. YT doesn't have them but if you Google FDS2855 you can find them with a picture that might give you some ideas for making a home-brew. Of course you could just buy one but they cost around $65.
