Ford 7700 troubles

We have a 7700. Mowing hay and when we?d
switch from low to high in dual power, pto would
stop and tractor would hesitate for just a split
second. Finally, the pto completely stopped.
Checked hydraulic pump pressure ( I tee?d into the
dual power line) and it was running between 50-80.
Asked dealer. He said should be around 200.
Replaced pump. Still no pto. I never lost 3 pt hitch
or remotes, and the tractor drives ok, so that should
mean not the input shaft. Also, the new pump was
pumping 220 psi for 10 minutes and still no pto. Any
help is truly appreciated.

Thanks Bern. Other than where the dual power line comes out of the pump, where should I test pressures at? Is this a common problem with these tractors or is mine just tired? I?m really grateful for your help.

What you want to do is tee in a pressure gauge into the dual power fitting, then compare pressure readings in both low and high range. If they are equal, or within 5-10 PSI of each other, the problem is likely in the PTO clutch. If high range is more than 10 PSI lower than low range, you have a problem in the high range clutch of the DP.

Be sure to do your testing with warm or hot oil, not cold.

Thank you so much. I?ll check it tomorrow. I?ve been sure to let the tractor run several minutes before checking so far. I truly appreciate you, Bern.
