Ford 555 Brake Rod

While checking the rear end oil and adding some in my 555 ford backhoe i heard something, looked under the machine and found out it was pouring oil where the brake rod goes into the rear axle housing (on the left side if sitting in the seat). It looks like part # 86576339, which is a seal. If that is the right part, can it go on the rod from the outside or will i have to plan a major tear down repair?

Relatively easy job, just I am not sure what may be different with the linkages on a 555 that need to be disconnected so you can slide the existing seal out and replace them. I have a 555C, just never looked under there at these since I've had it. Last ones I did were on a Ford 4630. I used a tool that had a chisel like edge to carefully separate the seal from the housing, making room for a pair of small crows foot end like tools to carefully pry from both sides, both were found on the shelf at the hardware store. It's kind of like prying a paint can lid off the can. Use care to not damage the mating surface on the housing, and you'll need to drain that housing, or some of it and get the front end up in the air so what is left does not come running out. Make sure to use hardwood blocks, don't just trust the loader.

Not hard, use the hoe or stabilizer to lift up that side and put about12-14? of cribbing under that tire, do not work under it with hydraulics holding it up. usually that?s enough to keep the oil from doing anything more than dripping, as said tape the threads and if the rod is rough where the boot is gonna slide over it, dress it with some emery cloth.
Be sure you feel the new boot ?seat? in the housing with the flange all the way against it.
