7700 fuel gauge

I recently purchased a 7700 and I?m not very good with
electrical issues I have done some testing and gotten it down
to a bad fuel gauge. I don?t want to replace the instrument
panel because everything else works fine. I want to just add a
gauge and mount it somewhere for the bottom tank. I bought
an off the shelf gauge and it didn?t seem to work. The only
thing I can?t think over that I might have messed up on is not
connecting the ground on the gauge to the ground on the
sending unit. Do I need a certain type of gauge that I didn?t
purchase or am I missing something on wiring. I connected
the positive to the key switch ground to the battery and
sending unit to the sending post. I am just playing with jumper
wires for right now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks guys

Fuel gauge and sender have to be designed for each other, There are a number of different resistance ranges in the various senders out there, and even if you got one that would move the needle with the existing sender there's no guarantee how accurate it would be.

After searching last night I found out what you stated on different ranges. Does anyone know the range gauge I?m looking for
