Ford 3000 front end loader attachment?

I have a 1972 Ford 3000 diesel, I bought a
Ford 720 front end loader. However the
front plate that mounts to front of tractor
to hold hydraulic pump has 4 bolt holes In
it, my tractor only has 2 in the front axle
support. Also where the pto shaft sits in
the pully, I have a bolt there . I am only
comparing it to the tractor I pulled it
from. Which was also a Ford 3000. Do I need
to change the front axle support? And put
some kind of adapter on the crank pully to
except the pto 10 spline?. I just wanted a
cheap loader . Not I'm not sure what to
do... Please any advice is helpful. I sold
the dozer front end. And that only used 2
bolts in the front axle support but the one
for the FEL asks for 4

Are you sure that the tractor that you got the loader off of was a 3000 and not a 3400? The 3400 is almost identical to the 3000 except that it has a single piece non-adjustable front axle and a heavier duty front axle support that has 4 holes, where the 3000 front axle support only has 2.

Try to answer some..

when mounting on the front bolster, I used two holes that were there and drilled the other two. I cant remember if the other two were small holes or non existent holes but I remember redrilling them to the correct size. the bottom holes were fine.

Where I attached to the front pulley, had to get a spider adapter that bolted to 4 holes that were spaced on the pulley around its circumference.

If the pulley adapter is no longer available, here is where someone made a converter.. using the pump couplings.

Your 720 loader drive.... may be different than the one the 730 used. either way hope this helps....

I do remember that there is a long shaft and a short shaft when you order parts so be sure to get the correct one for your tractor, again if yours uses this system. iirc the 3000 used the long one.

Wow!!! Yes apparently it did come from a Ford 3400. I appreciate the response. I was searching the internet for hours but if I don't know exactly know what it came from. So I guess there is hope, that I can still use this loader. Just have to drill those 2 smaller holes to a bigger size. But length and width wise this loader should work?. Thanks everyone!! U made my friday

Also what's the best tires to put on the front to hold the weight, big balloon tires? Or thin ones? And if you have tire sizes thanks

Back in the 50's many tractors used a PTO-driven hydraulic pump.
It needed to be bigger because the shaft runs quite slow. It also
needs to run in the correct direction. When you needed to use the
tractor to drive something else, you'd have to slip it off the
PTO shaft. We had these on our H and M tractors.

specially in loose dirt.mud or sand.. the farm tires will bury themselves... 700-16 bias tires or 235/85r16s used truck tires work well for the load and the flotation as well. May have to reverse front rims if tires are too wide.

Also "gensco" 22 ply aircraft tires are thorn proof and flotation so even better for loader tires. However do not exceed 230 mph or 17,500 lbs per tire if you use the aircraft tires. They do eventually wear out after 47 years though. I have my first set from the early 70s, and they are getting a bit rough and starting to flap now, but still on the loader.
